Japan requires an "exhaust temperature warning" light on cat-equipped vehicles. Some vehicles call it "floor temperature". There is usually a warning light visible to the driver. The purpose of the system is to alert the driver to unsafe exhaust system temperatures that may cause a fire.Last edited by DaveP; 03-26-2019, 11:38 AM.

I'm not positive that it is NOT connected to the ECM. You'll have to look and trace wires. I AM positive that Japan requires a "floor temp" warning for un-safe exhaust system temperatures, so that is what it very likely is.
You can probably remove it with no issues. Again, trace wires, see where they go. My guess is that it is going to be a stand-alone system, and that the only connections to the vehicle wiring will be a Hot in Run, and a Ground. If so, take it out.
